3 Ways to Feed Yourself After Your Baby is Born

Picture
Chances are that as a new mother, you will spend a lot of time feeding your new baby. Whether by breast or bottle, newborns need to eat every 2-3 hours round the clock. In the blur of the early weeks with your baby, one thing that often gets forgotten is that YOU (and your partner and other children) need to eat too! There are several things you can do to ensure that you are still feeding yourself and your family well after your baby is born.

1. Stock Your Freezer

A month or two before your baby is expected to arrive, begin stocking your freezer with easy-to-reheat meals and snacks. A few ways to do this include:
  • Double the recipe when you cook some of your favorite foods and put away half for later.
  • Pick one day a week to make a bunch of freezer meals at once.
  • Throw a freezer meal party or ask for a freezer meal shower in lieu of the traditional baby shower.

2. Ask For Help

3. Use a Meal Delivery Service

Friends and family love to help out when a new baby is born and providing meals is one of the best ways they can do so. Take advantage of meal train organizing websites like http://takethemameal.com to make it a smoother process. Even better, enlist a friend, family member, or your postpartum doula to be the organizer of the meal train. Home-cooked meals delivered to your door with no effort from you? What could be better!
Meal delivery services provide chef-prepared meals using fresh ingredients to your door. Many will often work with you if you have special dietary needs such as being gluten-free or vegan. Here are are a few meal delivery services local to the Charlotte area:
