A Little About Me

Hello! I'm Andrea.
I never had big career goals as a child. In fact, the only thing I was absolutely sure of is that I wanted to be a mother. I was blessed to be able to give birth three times and each time it was a unique and transforming event. When I became a mother, it was the most amazing and difficult thing I had ever done. I didn't have a doula with any of my births, but once I learned what doulas do, I was intrigued. What a wonderful job that would be! I kept feeling the tug on my heart to take a doula training and in June 2012, I began my journey to becoming a doula. I think one of the big reasons that I love this work so much is that it ties so closely into my calling as a mother. As a doula, I “mother” families through the birth process and during the postpartum period. It is sacred work and I am honored to serve the families that choose me to walk alongside them. In addition to my role as a doula, I am the wife to my amazing and supportive husband, and mama to my three amazing kiddos. I love reading good books, binge watching TV shows, laughing with friends, and playing with my dog. I’m originally from Virginia, but I am now so happy to call Charlotte, NC home. What's In a Name?
I chose the name Complete Joy Birth Services for a number of reasons. The first reason is that there is no other way to describe the incredible emotions a woman experiences when she meets her child for the first time. It is a moment of relief, elation, amazement, and complete joy. I also based the name on a favorite Bible verse, John 15:11: I have told you this that my joy will be in you and your joy may be complete. My hope is that you will experience great joy when bringing new life into the world.
