Sibling Doula Services

You are expecting a new addition to your family, but you already have one or more children in your home. Figuring out what to do with your older children while laboring and birthing their younger sibling can be stressful! You may not have reliable childcare because you are newer to the greater Charlotte area or you don't have family or friends nearby. Even if you do have people willing to help, will they also be able to drop everything to come care for your kids when your water breaks at 3 am? If this problem keeps you up at night worrying, I've got a solution for you; the sibling doula! The role of the sibling doula is to care for the older children in the family when the new baby is being born. Whether you need an extra hand during your planned homebirth or someone to stay with your kids while you are in the hospital or at a birth center, sibling doula services are a great way to have peace of mind about your upcoming birth.

 Sibling Doula Package
​A sibling doula is familiar with birth and the needs of children of all ages. As your sibling doula, I will be on call in the weeks leading up to your due date and will provide timely care for your other children during your labor and birth, whether you are birthing at home or the hospital. My sibling doula package includes: 
  • A free consultation to decide if I am the doula for you
  • 1 in-person home visit to get to know your child/children and learn about their care needs. 
  • Being on call for you starting at 37 weeks gestation.
  • Care for your children in your home during your birth. 
  • If you are having a homebirth, I can care for your children if they are present for the birth or in a separate space in your home.
  • If you are having a birth center or hospital birth, I will care for your children when you are in labor until you, your partner, or another trusted person is able to come and take over the responsibility of care. 
The cost for this package is $600 for up to 12 hours of care. If additional hours are needed, they will be billed at a rate of $25/per hour. 
We were lucky enough to find Andrea and use her sibling doula services as we prepared to bring our 3rd into the world. Andrea was on call for when I went into labor and took care of my 2 at home so that my husband could be with me throughout the process. It was so nice having her there and knowing that our boys were in good hands. It gave us such a peace of mind. She was incredibly kind and good with my boys and very prompt when she was needed. I'd highly recommend her!
